Katharine Barnes, LMT
Katharine Barnes is a Georgia Licensed Massage Therapist, who is also certified in Thai Yoga Bodywork. Katharine felt called to become a massage therapist after experiencing for herself the benefits that massage can have for the whole person - body, mind, and spirit. She worked in service jobs for many years, and began to feel that it was time to find a new way to serve. Katharine is grateful for the opportunity to help people reach their health goals, unload some stress, and find balance in their lives. She’s also excited to continue learning and growing through this practice. When Katharine isn’t working, she enjoys listening to music, cloud and star-gazing, and spending time with her partner Hannah and their fur-babies Clementine, Tobias, and Gus.
What is Thai Massage
Thai massage is a form of body work that has gained wide popularity in the West. A complete Thai massage incorporates a traditional combination of point pressure, energy meridian work, and yoga-like stretching for an invigorating and balancing experience.
How is Thai Massage Done?
It uses quite similar techniques as Swedish massage, but Thai massage also stimulates the acupressure points in relation to the concept of energy lines in order to provide relief, to stretch and loosen tightened muscles, to release tension and relieve joints. A Thai massage is done on a floor mat or massage table.
